Mt. Major Fireworks Hike

Description: Watch fireworks from the summit of Mt. Major.

Mt. Major lies at the southern end of the Belknap Range overlooking Lake Winnipesaukee just beyond Alton Bay and has sweeping views of the mountains in all directions.

We will meet at the Mt. Major parking lot and take the Boulder Loop Trail to the summit. Fireworks start at 9:30 so plan for a late descent with flashlight or headlamp where we will return via the Brook Trail.

Bring: Layers, headlamps, flashlights, bug dope, snacks to share.

RSVP: Not necessary.
WEATHER: Hike is off in bad weather.
DOG FRIENDLY: Yes, but plan to leash on the top since there will be lots of people around.

Driving Directions:   The parking lot and trailheads for Mount Major are located in Alton, New Hampshire on Rt. 11, 4.2 miles north of Alton Bay.

Heading north, the parking lot turn-off is located shortly after a scenic vista and is on the left-hand side of the road.

Heading south, the parking lot turn-off is located a couple miles after passing the junction with Rt. 11A on the right-hand side of the road.
