Your ad can include links to your business website but you don't need to be on the web to advertise with us – you can simply include your phone number and address, as you would for a traditional print ad.

Our prices are very reasonable – you get to advertise with us for a full year at a rate that would probably get you only a week's worth of print in a local newspaper.

Ads are placed in the left and right sidebars and are usually interspersed with trail photos and other hiking information so website visitors are accustomed to checking the sidelines for information. Standard Ad Sizes and Prices*   
  • Left-hand Single:     160 pixels wide by 180 pixels tall.  $100/year
  • Right-hand Single:   220 pixels wide by 125 pixels tall.  $100/year
  • Left-hand Double:    160 pixels wide by 360 pixels tall.  $190/year
  • Right-hand Double:  220 pixels wide by 250 pixels tall.  $190/year

Pixel size, and therefore ad size is dependent upon monitor size and the resolution that the monitor is set to. Although your ad may look larger or smaller on different screens, it will always include all of your text. Below are the sizes of the ads, in inches, as they appear on a 19" wide monitor with a resolution of 1440 x 900 pixels which is a pretty typical setup:
  • Left-hand Single:     160 pixels wide by 180 pixels tall.  1-3/4" x 2"
  • Right-hand Single:   220 pixels wide by 125 pixels tall.  2-15/16" x 1-3/8"
  • Left-hand Double:    160 pixels wide by 360 pixels tall.  1-3/4 x 4"

Our ads may include text, links, and static images – the goal is to quickly display information rather than aggravate users by making them wait while flash and other animations are downloaded. Studies show that 60% of the online community has slow dial-up service (usually because that's the only option available to them). Layout for a Standard Ad   
  • Includes text and links only.
  • The standard ad has a black heading which is underlined.
  • The background color is light green.
  • The main text is green.
  • The outline of the ad box is also green.
  • Linked or highlighted text is blue.
  • There is no limit to the number of links you may include in a single ad.
  • Font size can be large or small as long as all your text fits into the ad box.
  • Text may be bolded if desired.
  • Advertisers may choose which page(s) to display the ads so that you may pick the most appropriate page based on geographic area or content (provided there is still advertising space available on that page).
  • Advertisers may choose where in the sidebar they want their ad displayed (provided that particular space has not yet been claimed).

  • Full-width Home: An ad at the bottom of the list of hikes spans the entire width of the page and is 100 pixels tall. (If this ad spot has been purchased, then the half-width home page ads will not be available.) There will only be one ad in this position. Note that since users can customize the list of hikes by selecting search criteria, that they are then likely to scroll down to the bottom of the page to see every hike that fits their interests.  $800/year

Our free hiking trail guide resource offers everything from short, easy, nature walks to challenging mountain climbs above timberline in the alpine zone. The detailed trail reports with hike descriptions, trail maps, photos, and driving directions serve as a great planning tool. Many of the trail guides are based on hikes in the beautiful White Mountains of New Hampshire.

We offer ideas for all seasons so take those boots or snowshoes out of the closet and go for a hike! Hiking can be a great method of outdoor education.  Every time you go out for a hike you are taking part in environmental education.   A good hike is better than anything you could learn in gym class!  So when you want to take part in outdoor learning, don't forget to take a nature walk!
